Antidepressant-Like Effects of CBD

This study1 conducted on mice compared the anti-depressant effects of different dosages of CBD to commecrically available imipramine2 such as Tofranil. How does CBD compare in its effect as an anti-depressant to Tofranil? Well, the result is pretty exciting: The study concludes that CBD, at 30mg per dose, actually induces antidepressant-like effects comparable to those of imipramine. I think this is quiet exciting as someone who can’t even imagine taking synthetic psycho-pharma. The study concludes with a hopeful “[…] the results of the present study showed that CBD induces antidepressant-like effects in the forced swimming test, suggesting for the first […]

Cannabinoids in clinical practice

In this article1, Williamson and Evans summarize some of the effects that THC, CBD and CBG can have on (clinically studied) humans. The highlights are: Low doses of cannabinoids alleviated tremor for MS patients In small clinical studies, THC, CBD and CBG have pain-relieving and antiinflammatory effects CBD may modulate the effects of THC such as anxiety Neurogenic pain patients prefered the cannabis herb over synthetic cannabinoids. It helped them relieve not only pain but the associated depression and anxiety. Cannabinoids are effective in chemotherapy-induced nausea (although they don’t mention which one in particular) The synthetic cannabinoid HU211 was studied […]
